Have Fun Planning A Costume Party

By Rene Lacape

Did you ever plan a costume party but ended up looking for professional help as you didn't know where to start form? Holding and arranging party can be really troublesome at times essentially when you are the only one handling everything right form inviting the guests, decorating the venue to the entertainment of guests. These things are to be planned in advance and counting upon a friend is just a scratch. After all, even they will be enjoying the party with you.

Once you have decided to hold a costume party, first and foremost, settle on its theme (if there is one). The theme of the party should be exciting and fun and most of all, the women's and men's costumes for the said theme shouldn't be too hard to find or create. If the theme requires that the guests come in rare costumes, then they might end up wearing casual clothes and it might spoil the ambience of the party. Check if the decorations of the theme can fit into your location. Also, make sure that your budget can handle all the expenses for the event.

Sit with your friends and family for a brainstorming session. This will make you know what other people think and will help you form your own opinion. Note down all these points. These will help you in the progression of the preparation and some points will also help you in case you want to make some last minute changes!

The chosen age group of the guests is a big factor in planning the costume party. For children's costume parties, the costumes are usually more colorful, exciting, and easy to move around in. The menu for kids would mostly consist of finger foods, cupcakes and those that won't create much mess. For the adults, adult costumes may require less effort than when preparing for the children, and when out of time, there are lots of costume shops out there where they can effortlessly grab their desired men's costumes. And cocktail drinks and an open bar might be seen in adult parties instead of candies and chocolates.

Now, a million dollar question arise. When to send out the invitations? A month before the event is perfect time to send out the invites, this will make sure that the guests have arranged for the right costumes and will come prepared for the party. Just to make sure that everyone is present with the right costume, you can mention on the invitation card that whosoever is coming without the costume should come prepared for a punishment which will only be revealed in the party.

No costume party is complete without prizes. Certain contests can be organized by the host so as to create some amusement, fascination and excitement. The contests can vary and are a personal choice. You can still go for the traditional "best costume" award for the best costume and the rest is left to your imagination. Prize distribution is something that fascinates everyone as everyone wants to win.

It is important for the guests to have fun, and some form of entertainment loyal to the theme should be waiting for them as they arrive one by one. The guests themselves are the life of the party, and even though they all look good looking In their fabulous women's and men's costumes, a party will eventually become boring if all they do is chat in the silent air. Suitable background music for the theme must be prepared and selected a few days before. Oftentimes, an emcee with great people skills and an interesting personality can be enough to provide the entertainment for the guests.

At the end of the day, although it's important for the guests to enjoy themselves, it also very important for you and those in charge to have fun! The success of the event is also your success, and don't forget to celebrate it with them and congratulate all for a job well done.
