The Devil's Advocate: Kevin Lomax has never lost a case. He then gets an offer to move to New York, and work for John Milton, at his prestigious firm. Once there, things start to very strange. As time goes on he comes to realize that John Milton is none other than the Devil himself.

The Fabulous Baker Boys: The Baker Brothers, Frank and Jack, have been playing music at small clubs for years. They feel now that a female vocalist will be a good move. They bring on Suzie and things take off. When Jack and Suzie start a relationship, it tests then all.

Alaska: Adolescent venture yam on a grand scale, as a brother and sibling take off looking for their dad and his downed plane. Structured like an old grade-B melodrama, however implemented with conviction contrary to magnificent, snowy landscape and characterizing an irresistible polar bear who befriends the youngsters. Heston, whose child prompted the drama, plays a mean, cunning poor gentleman. Cast includes Thora Birch, Vincent Kartheiser, Dirk Benedict, Charlton Heston, Duncan Fraser, and Gordon Tootoosis. (110 minutes, 1996)

Hannie Caulder: Weird, mystical Western in regards to raped, widowed, and destitute lady who asks reward hunter Culp to instruct her to shoot so she could seek retribution. Nice notion to have poor men Borgnine, Elam and Martin play it a la The 3 Stooges, although laughter is vitiated by their gory killings. Cast includes Raquel Welch, Robert Culp, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Elam, Strother Martin, Christopher Lee, and Diana Dors. (85 minutes, 1971)

Belle Epoque: Set in 1931, a time of vow and optimism in pre-Franco Spain, this pleasantly earthy, glad comedy informs of a hearty youthful army defector Sanz who's befriended by an older recluse, and captivated by his 4 gorgeous baby girls. Cast includes Fernando Fernan Gomez, Jorge Sanz, Maribel Verdu, Ariadna Gil, Miriam Diaz-Aroca, and Penelope Cruz. (108 minutes, 1992)

Spungen: Director Cox accomplishes a masterful level of a documentary-reality. He then laces it with metaphorical fantasy icons, with striking outcomes. At the center of the film are two incredible behaviors, by Goldman and Webb, who don't appear to be operating at all: They are Sid and Nancy. The movie is a downer, to be certain, however captivating. (105 minutes, 1969)
