Masked gang rob OAPs’ life savings in home raid

Police: The Star bringing you the latest news 24-hours a day.

Callous crooks targeted a Doncaster couple in their late eighties while they were asleep in bed to rob them of their life savings.
A gang of masked men burst into their Rossington home and subjected them to a terrifying ordeal before making off with what police described as a “substantial” amount of cash.
The pensioners have been left “absolutely devastated” and feel they have lost their independence.
Police today appealed to the public for information about the robbery, which they are hoping will have been talked about in pubs and clubs across the village after it took place last week.
The raid took place on Thursday, May 19, at around 11.25pm, when three masked men forced entry into the couple’s home.
The exact location of the crime and the identity of the victims are not being disclosed because of their vulnerable state.
The two occupants at the address - an 87-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman - were in bed at the time of the robbery.

The elderly man received minor injuries to his shoulder when he was hit by one of the gang.
The three men stole a substantial amount of money from the property, although the exact figure is not being disclosed.
One of the officers investigating, PC Craig Nicol, said: “We believe this is a targeted attack on an elderly couple. They were asleep in bed when three men forced entry into their home.
“They have been left absolutely devastated following the robbery. It has completely shaken them and destroyed their confidence and independence.
“If anyone has heard anything in the local community or can provide any information at all relating to the incident, please get in contact with us.
“The couple are distraught and feel extremely vulnerable after this intrusive crime.
“I would urge anyone who has any information, or who believes they may know the identity of the men who have committed this crime, to please come forward to help us catch those responsible to ensure they are never able to do this again.”
Police are continuing to investigate the robbery and establish how the couple were targeted.
The couple’s family members are too upset to make any public comment about the incident.
