Creating The Best Halloween Party With Halloween Decoration Supplies

By Orson Welles

If you want to throw a party this Halloween, there are some Halloween decoration supplies you are going to want. There are a number of items that are going to really make the occasion festive.

Keep in mind your overall theme when you shop for these things.

For example, if you're using a certain color scheme with your party, make sure you purchase Halloween decorations that are going to fit right in. For Halloween, this often means that you want to choose orange and black as the colors in your theme.

You can also use other colors, though, like reds, greens, and browns. Let's talk about some Halloween decoration supplies that you may think useful for your next Halloween get together.

One of the easiest and most basic Halloween decoration supplies are balloons. You will find during the fall season you will be able to find a lot of orange and black balloons. If you are looking for a very simple type of item that will greatly enhance the appearance for your celebrations, balloons are your best choice.

You can also use color-coordinated plastic and paper plates, napkins, and cups to further dress up the occasion.

Of course, these items will be necessary for your party, but they can also be Halloween decorations of a sort. They are perfect for a Halloween party, and you can also purchase other items, like lantern lights, that have been made especially for Halloween.

You will be able to find ones that look like pumpkins, Frankenstein, witches and more. You will find that this is a really great way to accessorize the festivities. You will also be able to find sidewalk lights that will really brighten up an ad to the outdoor Halloween experience.

You can also decorate the food you serve so that its specific to the Halloween holiday. For example, you can buy molds that will shape cakes and other foodstuffs into brains, hands, and other body parts for a truly ghoulish (and fun) experience.

If you don't know quite what to do for your own Halloween decoration supplies, try creating food that others will find fun and just a little spooky.

With everybody raving about it you will find it all to be a big hit many times. Halloween decorations are not just things that you may have hanging in and around or your home. You can also decorate the food that you create and even the drinks that you will have available to your guests.

You will find that there are a lot of things that you will be able to do to ensure that your home or any other area you plan to have your Halloween party will be appealing to your guests.

Dance History Of The Paso Doble

By Melanie LaPatin

Who says the French cant be Spanish? Witness the Paso Doble. Meaning double step in Spanish, this ballroom dance for couples is set to Spanish march music that is reminiscent of a bullfight in the heart of Spain. It is the same style of music that is played when a bullfighter enters the ring to salute the audience before the fight, and again at the end of the fight, just before the kill. This assumes, of course, that the bull doesnt win the fight.

The dance is lively and dramatic, with long sweeping steps and aggressive movements. It is a dance of preparation for battle and triumph in combat, just like the bullfights that inspired it. The male represents the matador, boldly and proudly entering the ring. The female represents the matadors cape, which he whips around with graceful elegance. The female also takes on the role of the bull or an adoring senorita dancing Flamenco. The tempo is brisk and measured but not fast, being about one beat per second. What truly makes this dance is the energy one puts into it and the level of dancing skill.

The Paso Doble as we know it today was invented in Southern France, and Pierre Lavelle made it popular with the upper crust of Paris in the 1930s. The close proximity to Spain was undoubtedly its inspiration. Although the French copied the Spanish music and movements, they named the steps in French. The Sur Place and Huit, for example. The dance is an elaborate pantomime of a bullfight, where the matador dances proudly around, confronts his enemy (the bull) and eventually emerges victorious. Movements by the male are proud and quick, in strong defiance, while the hand and arm gestures (particularly of the female) are often graceful and fluid.

This is not a dance for a crowded dance floor, as it necessarily takes up a lot of room. It is a dance to be watched and enjoyed, usually at exhibitions, performances or competitions. Youre not likely to find a knowledgeable partner standing by the wall at your local disco. It is a performance dance.

Experienced dancers find the Paso Doble challenging but extremely rewarding. Being theatrical in nature, it requires a great deal of showmanship, if not acting ability. Very similar to the Flamenco, it requires a haughty and confident attitude for the male.

The United States first began taking notice of the dance in the 1930s, however it has never really caught on in the English-speaking countries because it is not a dance you can do without a lot of experience. For this reason, it is a great opportunity for seasoned dancers to learn something novel that will be received well by audiences.

A dynamic dance that requires extensive professional training, the Paso Doble is not a dance for the uninitiated. If you are a strong performer, however, few dances are as impressive or stylistic. If the conqueror is in your blood, step up to the challenge. Ole! N'est-ce pas?

Roller Girls Revive A Moribund Sport

By Ross Everett

Roller Derby has been around for years and was a staple of the early days of television. It was similar to its better known counterpart, pro wrestling and was seen on many of the same low powered UHF stations in the same bad timeslots. It had a similar borderline sleazy group of promoters and businessman that was common in the regional territory era of pro wrestling. Roller derby didn't have the success or popularity that pro wrestling did. There was a serious athletic component to be sure, but the dim witted storylines made pro wrestling look like Shakespeare. The sport does have its own history--most know that the LA T-Birds were the perennial champions of 1970's, and Ann Calvello and Ralphie Valladares had been in the sport forever and were considered legends--but it never really stuck in the public consciousness like the pre-Hulk Hogan era of pro wrestling.

When the original purveyors of the sport quit promoting in the early 1980s most thought it was dead and gone until a 'new school' of roller derby surfaced on cable TV via the A&E reality series Roller Girls. It featured a local, all-girl roller derby league in Austin, Texas and followed the lives of the players on and off the track. A sport that had faded into the lowest level of obscurity had been rediscovered and embraced by an eclectic group of young women. They had kept the same essential format, thrown in a healthy dose of burlesque camp and Varga pin-up inspired glamour and changed the competitive format and renamed the competitions "bouts" a la MMA or boxing. The result was a compelling mixture of glamour, toughness and athleticism driven by a healthy dose of punk rock "do it yourself" mentality.

Today, roller derby is a full blown worldwide phenomenon. There are hundreds of local roller derby leagues not only in the United States, but Canada, Australia and Europe. Most of the local groups similarly play up the campy retro pin-up/hot rod iconography and everyone involved sure looks like they're having a good time. Between teams there's a vibe of good natured competitiveness and camaraderie.

This organic rebirth and growth of roller derby is a result of young women taking what essentially was TV time filler and made it into their own distaff 'action sport'. The roller derby circa 2009 is a matriarchal success story. No one is in it for the money, as these local groups are typically run as non-profit organization. The women involved have recreated this sport, and run it, promote it and compete in it on their own terms.

The new generation rollergirls also pay homage to their sports' pioneers much in the same way that skateboarders give props to Duane Peters and Tony Alva. Many of the individual group websites have sections devoted to the history of roller derby, and the late Ann Calvello--regarded as the Queen of the original Roller Derby--is revered as something of a patron saint. The Texas Rollergirl group featured in the A&E series has renamed their championship the Calvello Cup.

Wireless Ready? Here is How to Tell

By Allway Jurgennson

Built-in wireless capabilities in computers are becoming standard equipment. Most laptops and other home computers ship wireless ready. And, like things in the world, the reason is cost. Adding wireless capacity is relatively inexpensive. Manufacturers feel it is necessary to include wireless capabilities in their feature list. The consumer sees the value of added wireless as a great feature so the manufacturers get a great bang for the buck. Wireless is the future so any type of wireless feature is going to be a big hit with consumers.

Most consumers today are not very computer savvy. Why should they be? Computers come ready to go out of the box. So, being able to upgrade their desktop or laptop with more memory or a new peripheral can be a daunting task. However, they should be able to check what OS they have, how much memory they have, what programs are installed and if their wireless computer is enabled for wireless. First, check the feature list the computer came with. It will state flat out if the computer is wireless enabled.

Laptops with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology -----Most laptops today are equipped with Centrino technology. A lot of computer manufacturers do not explain what Centrino means. If your laptop came with this technology built-in its good thing. Centrino means that your laptop has wireless networking ready to go and you don't have to do anything to enable your computer. Intel Centrino is just a name for the Intel Pentium M processor and Intel's' Pro Wireless card together. A Centrino sticker will be displayed on your laptop if it came with it. If you dont see a Centrino sticker check your Device Manager to see if you have a wireless adapter inside.

Desktop Computers ----- If you are not sure if your desktop system is wireless enabled, just turn it around and look for an antenna sticking out of the back of the case. If you see one then your computer probably has the card needed to be wireless enabled. On the other hand, if you don't see an antenna then it's still possible that you have a wireless device in the computer, especially if you purchased anytime after 2005. If you dont see an antenna, there is a way to check using Windows.

If you think you have a wireless device, but it has a yellow warning sign alongside its name in the Device Manager, you should take a look at it to see what may be wrong by double clicking on it. Windows should then tell you why the device is not working at the moment and may even suggest that you go through its troubleshooter program. Do that before you do anything else. If it turns out to be a driver problem, you should insert the driver CD that came with your computer. If you can't find the driver CD that came with your computer - don't worry because you should be able to find it on line and download the appropriate driver on line. The first step would be to go to website of your computers manufacturer and do a search for the name of the wireless device that showed up in your Device Manager. Once you find the correct driver simply download it and follow the instructions. After all this (actually about 5 minutes) you may discover that you don't have a wireless enabled computer -- oh well, those are the breaks. However, it's clearly better to find out your computers wireless capacity now -- before you go out and buy some wireless equipment and then realize that you didn't even need it.

The Complete Guide To Retro and Modern Hairstyles

By Toni Moretti

When some people hear the term retro hairstyles, they automatically think of old fashioned or a flash from the past. Actually though these so called old fashioned hair styles or retro is the real term, have been around a long time, still going strong to day and most likely in the future as well. There is no one definition of a retro hairstyle because it can be a variation of smooth finger waves or intriguing elegant chignons. The impressive aspect of these retro hairstyles is they can magically be transformed into the most elegant evening hairstyle one could possibly want.

Entertainers of today can take the hairstyle of the bygone starlets of the past and wear them as an ultra modern statement of fashion.

Some of us without giving away our age may remember our Moms and grandmothers walking around all day with those multiple bobby pins jutting out from all areas of their heads. That may seem like a long time ago, but take a close look at some of the most famous hairstyles today and you can bet you are going to see those very same pin curls that Mom used to have.

We would be remiss when talking about retro hairstyles not to mention the ?beehive hairdo?. It was almost a contest to see who could get the greatest height. The higher the better. Now look at some of those sophisticated up dos or those gigantic buns that the fashionable are wearing today. They really are not all that much different from the beehive. In fact if one didn?t know better it could be said that today?s styles are a knock off of the past. Then that?s what makes them retro isn?t it.

Now a current hairstyle that one would find it hard to believe that it is Retro is the Bob hairstyle. This style has been modified numerous times but never loses its versatility and appeal. Quite often people will mistakenly take it as being a short and straight. In fact the long sleek can also be classified as a Bob as well. With the bob hairstyle almost anything goes. Most often though the retro hairstyles are worn for formal affairs, although there are some casual looks that capture the retro look. The next time you are going through fashion magazines see if you can spot the retro styles.

If you sort of fancy a style from the past but would be embarrassed to wear it because it may be old fashioned then think again. You just may very well be the next individual to set the fashion trend of the times. There isn?t much that you can do with your hair today that would be classed as unacceptable. Another thing too is that you may think that the latest fashion hairstyle is the newest style to hit the market. Look back in the past and you will most likely find the retro style that the new fashion style was created after. When it comes to retro hairstyles, the clich? that history repeats itself is very very true.
