VP of Social Media Strategy and Innovation – Fanscape (LA)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The VP of Strategy and Innovation is a seasoned consumer marketer first, a proven social media strategist and a passionate, creative leader. This senior management level position will be responsible for managing our growing domestic and international social media consulting practice, leading the creative charge within the agency to ensure that our campaigns are creative, effective and consistently leveraging developing trends in social media, digital promotions, mobile marketing and technology. This positon will interact directly with clients as a trusted social media advisor and support new business development in a team selling approach. The VP of Social Strategy and Innovation will manage a team of strategists, social media marketers and draw support in the areas of digital concept design, research and analytics.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Social Media Strategy & Consulting Practice Leader – You are expected to manage, oversee and grow Fanscape’s consulting practice, via project and retainer work. You will manage billable engagements on a domestic and international basis, working closely with your team of dedicated social media strategists as well as with Account Management and Business Development.
Creative Leadership – You and your team will be charged with supporting existing and new clients in conceiving creative ideas that advance our client’s business objectives via paid, earned and owned social media avenues. Additionally, you will be Fanscape’s resident “thought leader”, regularly sharing your insights on emerging technologies, trends and behaviors with the internal teams.
New Service Innovation – As the senior most innovation leader, you will be the main driver and champion to routinely develop new service offerings that adapt to a rapidly changing social, mobile, technical and demographic landscape. You will recommend and develop specific services offerings, working closely with Fanscape’s management team and in concert with the Research & Analytics, Sales and Operations leadership. You will consistently be pushing Fanscape to the forefront of the social space and assuring that we maintain our competitive advantage.
Social Media Execution Quality – You will manage a growing, dedicated team of seasoned social media strategists and social marketers ensuring our campaigns are smart, effective and efficient. Your team will audit existing campaigns and lead internal trainings and best practices.
3rd Party Vendor Management & Partnerships – You will identify, vet and manage our third party vendor / technology partnerships, ensuring we leverage them to create the most compelling and cost effective campaigns for our clients, while also serving to differentiate Fanscape’s campaigns. You will be able to identify partnership opportunities with vendors and understand how best to capitalize on those relationships.
New Business Support – You will assist existing and new business prospects with creative social ideas and strategies that win and/or advance the agency’s expertise and knowledge in our target industry verticals.
Management – You will oversee a dedicated team of social media strategists and social media marketers and serve as a member of the senior management team. You will advise and consult on Fanscape’s strategic growth, direction and have departmental P&L responsibility.
EXPERIENCE
10+ yrs Work Experience – Approximately 10+ years of overall business experience with a majority of experience in consumer marketing with a heavy emphasis on digital and social media.
5+ Yrs Brand / Agency Experience – 5+ years of hands-on marketing experience, preferably at a Fortune 500 brand or marketing agency providing digital marketing, promotions, PR or social media.
Social Media Strategist & Marketing Expert – Proven ability to devise and implement smart and creative social media marekting campaigns, honed from years of hands-on experience.
Social Media Innovation – Knowledge of existing and emerging social media platforms, trends, tactics and technologies and the ability to synethize and recommend which are appropriate for our clients. Experience with developing new services amid a rapidly evolving industry. Established relationships with key vendors are a plus.
Creative Leadership – Proven ability to generate creative campaign ideas, deliver a compelling online story, and foster a spirit of creativity and innovation as a creative leader.
Consumer Marketing – Experience or exposure to one or more consumer marekting disciplines including, but not limited to: media buying and planning, advertising, public relations (PR), direct marketing, email marketing, mobile marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), customer relationship management (CRM), shopper marketing, retail marketing or event / experiential marketing,.
New Business Development Support – Support new business ideation, creative briefs, marketing tent tole ideas, customized marketing campaigns and in-person presentation support when needed.
Global & Multi-Cultural Campaign Management – Knowledge and/or management of marketing campaigns with an ethnic, multi-cultural or global marketing scope of work is preferred.
Account Management– Experience managing brand or agency campaigns from start to finish, with a high degree of client exposure and management.
Writing and Speaking – Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation experience to director, VP and C-Level executives. Ability to organize marketing tactics into a compelling and unified marketing campaign theme or message.
Department Management– Past experience building and managing a growing team as head of a department. Provide strong mentorship and foster career growth for your team of strategists and marketers.
Industry Vertical Expertise – Deep work experience in two or more of the following industry verticals: entertainment, consumer packaged goods, travel, automotive, gaming, mobile, pharmaceuticals or technology.
Planning & Insights – Ability to interpret primary and secondary data and reports to optimize strategic recommendations to clients.
Travel – Ability to travel 20-30% of the time to meet with existing and prospective clients, attend industry trade shows etc.
4-year college or master’s degree, preferably in marketing or business.
