OLD MONEY: Two experts on historic buildings will make a presentation on economic benefits of owning older homes and buildings at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park.
Jen Davel, preservation architect with the Wisconsin Historical Society, is slated to speak about federal and state tax credits for rehabilitation work done on historic buildings.
Frank Butterfield, director of the Wisconsin office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will discuss how older buildings impact property values, tourism and job creation, and price differences between new and old construction materials.
The program is free and is sponsored by the Eau Claire Landmarks Commission.

freshening up: The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association is presenting an expo showcasing the area's home remodeling contractors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Eau Claire County Exposition Center, 5530 Fairview Drive.
More than 50 exhibitors will have displays showing their services in choosing decor, space planning, flooring replacement, roofing, concrete, painting, installing cabinets and other remodeling work.
Advance tickets cost $3 and are available at Gordy's County Market stores in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire, Menards locations in Eau Claire, and Pro-Build in Eau Claire and Menomonie.
Tickets at the door cost $5. Children 12 and younger are admitted for free.

bee mine: John Spate, a Chippewa Falls beekeeper who runs Glory-B-Honey, will give a free presentation for the public next month about the life of honey bees.
Spate's presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Eau Claire County UW-Extension office, 227 First St. W., Altoona.
The educational talk will include bee flight habits, honey-making skills, communication dances and diseases affecting bees. Spate also will share recipes using honey.
