Pablo Picasso's Art Career & Most Famous Paintings

Pablo Picasso was immediately entered into the art world at a very young age by his father who quickly realised his talent and set about helping him to achieve his potential. He was rushed into the Barcelona School of Fine Arts at the tender age of 14 and progressed quickly.

The Blue and Rose Period represents Picasso's key periods from 1900 to 1906. The subjects of Picasso's paintings during his appropriately-titled blue period were symbolised as depressed and sad, or at least at the point of their capture in the paintings of Picasso. This period was superceded by a more positive reflection of subjects during Picasso's Rose Period which used a more pink set of tones.

Henri Matisse, Joan Miro and George Braques all became friends of Pablo Picasso after he moved to the capital of arts, Paris, in 1904. Here Picasso was introduced to new art movements by its very influences, such as French Fauvism and Picasso.

Cubism was created by Picasso, Braque and Juan Gris, after the legacy of Paul Cezanne started to take effect. Its use of geometrical shapes is still popular today, and remains Picasso's biggest legacy.

Picasso painted Guernica in 1937 as a protest against an air attack during the Spanish Civil War and is one of his best known paintings, not only for its quality, but also what it symbolised. His symbolic styles were continued in Dying horse and Weeping woman.

Guernica took pride of place in New York's museum of modern art up to 1981. It stayed away from Spain whilst Picasso rejected General Franco's fascist rule of Spain. After this it was taken to the Prado Museum and then the Queen Sofia Center of Art, both in Madrid, Spain.

Prince of Darkness: The anti-Christ entombs the evil child of Satan in a cannister of a forgotten about L.A. temple. It's up to pastor Pleasence and the gradstudents of Prof Wong to tidy up the mess. They must stop the religious sect attempting to free this child named the "Brotherhood of Rest." Cast includes Donald Pleasence, Lisa Blount, Jameson Parker, Victor Wong, Dennis Dun, Susan Blanchard, Anne Howard and Alice Cooper Panavision. R (110 minutes, 1987)

Kimberley Jim: Little musical of 2 carefree gamblers who win a fortune in a fixed poker game, and then have a change of heart. Cast includes Jim Reeves, Madeleine Guide, Clive Pamell, Arthur Swemmer, and Mike Holt. (82 minutes, 1965)

Just Ask for Diamond: Witty, if infrequently cartoonish, investigator film burlesque, in reference to the baby sibling of a dumbbell detective and the puzzle enclosing a box of candy. Cast includes Susannah York, Patricia Hodge, Roy Kinnear, Michael Medwin, Peter Eyre, Nickolas Grace, Dursley McLinden, Colin Dale, Bill Paterson, Jinuny Nail, and Saeed Jaffrey. (94 minutes, 1984)

Prophecy: Classical musician and her physician spouse quarrel over what appears to be gigantic salami in upstate Maine after mercury infecting turns animals into large mutants and worse. Ludicrous terror film is excellent for a few chuckles. Cast includes Talia Shire, Robert Foxworth, Armand Assante, Richard Dysart, and Victoria Racimo. (95 minutes, 1979)

Signpost to Murder: Fugitive from an insane asylum finds refuge in home of a female whose spouse is away. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Joanne Woodward, Edward Mulhare, Alan Napier, Joyce Worsley, and Murray Matheson. (74 minutes, 1965)

The Little Shop of Horrors: Classic black comedy in reference to youthful schnook who creates bloodthirsty plant and is made to kill in request to fuel it with human blood. Originally notorious as the fIlm was shot In 2 Nights, however now thought to be one of Corman's best films. Nicholson has comical tad as masochist who flourishes on dental suffering; Cast includes Jonathan Cloud, Jackie Joseph, Mel Welles, Dick Miller, Myrtle Vail, and Jack Nicholson. (70 minutes, 1960)

Club Extinction: A wave of suicides stuns future Berlin. Patrol investigator Niklas starts to suspect engagement of Beals, spokesperson for an Eden like resort, who's connected to media tycoon Dr. Marsfeldt (Bates). Buying Paintings And Calligraphy In The Neighborhood Of Your Beijing Hotel

Wonderful Chinese Brush Paintings!

I found a great shop named Mr. Wang Zixian's studio on Beijing's Liu Li Chang Street, it's near the Beijing Haige International Hotel. If you don't have the chance to watch real horses, then why not get a horse painting by Mr. Wang? His paintings vividly depict galloping horses in every detail. They are very good gifts for your friends, and also a perfect choice for decorating your home.

I went to his studio last week and was impressed by the tremendous display of paintings.

There is one painting that shows a thousand horses running together on a great prairie. This painting represents people who work hard to achieve a single goal.

Another one named "Jump and Fly into the Sky" is characterized by an excited horse jumping high. It is copied from the image of a horse on a old Chinese antique.

From my talk with Mr. Wang, I knew that he started to paint when he was very young. In order to master this art, he lived in Inner Mongolia for several months. There, he painted over 1,000 horses while watching horses running on the prairie. With this experience, he created his own style of painting horses.

Walking near the Beijing International Hotel, I found Mr. Li Feng's Studio by chance. I love his masterful calligraphy very much! It's an unforgettable experience to watch a calligraphy master create his own personal work on the spot!

He started to write calligraphy when he was only 7 years old. After many years of study and practice he created his own style of calligraphy---- clerical regular script. The calligraphy artwork exhibited in his studio is mainly done in this unique style.

My favorite piece with the character "dragon" is quite striking. Mr. Li wrote it with only one stroke. Examining this character, you will find it is square on the outside and round inside.

Another piece of art showing scenery is distinguished by the hardness of the characters. The lines seem like they're carved on stone.

Clerical regular script first appeared in China 2000 years ago. Mr. Li is the only master who writes in this way today. So check out his shop near your hotel in Beijing!

Some people say that Rome casts a magic spell on many of its visitors. Judging by the movie Roman Holiday, that's definitely the case. Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, the two main characters, though from widely different origins, manage to fall in love with each other and when they finally have to part, the lovely time spent together in the Eternal City is a lovely memory for both to retain.

Ever heard of La Dolce Vita, a movie shot by Federico Fellini in 1960? If you don't like movies dealing with social problems, this one is certainly not for you. We thought of mentioning it, though, because there are some beautiful views of Rome - and not only, remember Anita Ekberg's exhibition in Trevi Fountain - in some parts of the movie, that have become famous in film history. Incidentally, Fellini always said that Rome had bewitched him and at the same time inspired him as no other place did.

Why would anyone throw a coin in a fountain and nobody standing around would find it strange? To find out you should see Jean Negulesco's 1954 movie Three Coins In The Fountain. The title actually refers to the old tradition of throwing a coin in Trevi Fountain as a good omen for your return to Rome again in the future. Of course the background of the love story running through the movie is all of Rome, with many scenes being set in various typical parts of the city.

Are you familiar with the 1959 historical colossal movie Ben Hur? Its director, William Wyler, only a few years before had shot Roman Holiday and, quite clearly, fallen in love with Rome. So he decided to set the first "colossal" in movie history in Ancient Rome. The scenes were all shot in Cinecitta - Rome's "Holliwood" studios - but they are so realistic that you feel as if you are literally stepping back in the past. The glorious, if occasionally cruel, days of ancient Rome are perfectly re-enacted.

Ever heard of Turtle Fountain Square in Rome? Well, if you look up city guides you won't find this name, simply because officially the square is called Piazza Mattei. It's a charming little square set in the very heart of the Roman Jewish Ghetto, one of the oldest areas of Rome. Anthony Minghella found it so captivating that he set some scenes of his movie The Talented Mr. Ripley right there.

Do you remember Blade Runner? That was a movie looking into the future. Ridley Scott, though, also directed a movie set 2000 years back in time: The Gladiator. The big difference is that, while Blade Runner is sheer imagination, The Gladiator actually is a true-to-life reproduction of Ancient Rome.

Is it true to say that Rome has been the setting of countless movies or parts of them? The answer is obviously yes! Take for instance Norman Jewison's Only You. Some scenes are shot in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the very heart of Rome's most traditional suburb. The love story between the two main characters finds a splendid background in the local setting, which is traditionally considered extremely romantic, particularly at dusk.

Sharpe Actor Sean Bean Announced For Lead In HBO Fantasy Pilot

Sharpe actor Sean Bean, the also stared as Boromir in Lord of the Rings has been announced as the lead role in the HBO planned series 'A Game of Thrones' which is based on George RR Martin popular 'Song of Fire and Ice' series of fantasy books'.

No firm date has been set for screening the pilot, and there is still no commitment from HBO to a full series either, but with a substantial cast list headed up by Sean Bean, this project must be taken seriously.

He has been cast in role of Eddard Stark a Lord who is pressure to act as advisor to the ruthless royal family. Other cast members confirmed for the Pilot include Kit Harrington, Jack Gleeson, Harry Lloyd, and Peter Dinklage

The show is been adapted and produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David has suggested a 'crappy' tagline for the project could be, "The Sopranos in Middle-earth", which can only set the imagination racing. With plot elements that will contain spot of conspiracy, incest, child murder, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I mention conspiracy? We should see a show which is far darker than Sean Beans Previous fantasy adoptions.

Production will begin in Northern Ireland in October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast and has the support of the northern Irish government. It is also likely that the BBC will have a financial involvement in the same way they did in HBO's Rome series.

Sean Bean leapt to fame as the character Major Richard Sharpe, the series of Sharpe TV films in the early 90's. He was made world famous in the role of Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, but has also appeared in numerous other Hollywood films including as Ronin, Patriot Games and Troy.
