The Making of A Successful Hollywood Movie Starts With You

By Weiss Bishop

Hollywood producers spend big bucks keeping us entertained with new movies each year. There is no limit to what they will spend if the return is going to result in large numbers of ticket sales. It cost far more these days to create a special effects blockbuster hit than it did 10 years ago.

If a movie really takes off at the box office, producers, directors and movie cast will more than make up the cost of producing a movie hit. Some big movies have generated well over 100 million dollars in sales. When a film flops that is a different story.

Screenings of movies are another way Hollywood prepares the public. During these screenings, a select group of media personnel are invited to watch the first preview of the movie. As a result, tons of media reviews are released in broadcast media around the world increasing the excitement for the general release to the public. This type of buzz marketing is very effective at driving ticket sales.

Since the success or failure of a movie is usually determined in first week of its premiere release, many Hollywood studios often have advanced screenings of movies as an attempt to pump up the ticket sales before the movie is released to the general public. This creates buzz advertising and free press as media outlets around the world feature spotlights of the movie.

Hollywood has released so many movies in the last 75 years that they know what really entertains us. It is much easier for them to release a blockbuster hit today than it was 20 years ago. Surprisingly, not all hits costs tens of millions of dollars. Movies such as Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13 were created on a fairly low budget, but spawned a cult like following of loyal movie watchers and more sequels than any other movies made over time.

Hollywood not only generates millions of dollars in tickets sales as new releases hit the theaters, but they also get a percentage of sales from DVD rentals and purchases too. Older classics are still favored by many. Some people buy entire collections and series of movies and television shows such as the popular show 24.

Today, marvel comic book classics seem to b find a prominent place on the big screen. Lately, Hollywood has invested a considerable amount of money into these new releases.

Super heroes with god-like powers like are quickly becoming big hits as producers find new ways to introduce worlds crossed between fantasy and reality. Special effects have really come a long way.

Vinyl Words on Floor Tiles

By Bart Icles

Vinyl words and lettering are fast becoming one of the most popular ways to decorate the walls of your home or room. There are already several online stores that offer vinyl words as parts of their products and services. Most of these online stores can accept customized projects and there are also some who prefer letting you choose from an archive or catalog of designs and fonts. If you cannot find a vinyl lettering store online or one that is near your area, then you might want to do a little experiment. It is always possible to create vinyl words on floor tiles on your own and you can create them right in your own home.

The first thing you need to do is to purchase floor tiles from any hardware or home improvement store online or near your area. Depending on the look you want to achieve, you can select 3x3 ?inch tiles or you can also go for the larger, classier looking tiles. It is also best to select a marble tile because it is smooth and it has a range of color variations. You will also need to purchase a scraper or a plastic putty knife. Other materials that you need to prepare are die cutting machine, adhesive vinyl, hanger or easel, and clear transfer paper (preferably with grid).

Choose the kind of font cartridge that you would want to use and insert it properly into your die cutting machine. Start entering the words, phrases or sentences you plan to place on your floor tiles then load some adhesive vinyl into the die cutting machine. Allow the machine to cut out the words.

After the words have been cut out, you can now transfer them onto the marble tiles. To help you align the letters and words, you can use a clear transfer paper. The clear transfer paper will serve as a guide so you can better place the letters onto the tiles. Once done, you can smoothen out the vinyl sticker and bubbles with the help of a scraper or a plastic putty knife.

You can now display your vinyl words art. You can use a small easel ? the one used for decorative plates ? and place your art on your shelf, mantel or table. You can also grab a nail hanger and use a super glue to stick it to the back of your tile. You can then hang it on your walls. It really all depends on how you plan to use the floor tile as a home decoration.

Telephone Hold Music - The Psychological Impact

By Tim Holdon

Telephone hold music - We've been discussing the importance of appealing to the range of people and personality types calling your business or organization. We'll now zero in on some of the specific factors that play into your choice of telephone hold music - and its emotional and psychological impact on your callers. This is important for the simple reason that your telephone hold music may actually have an influence on your bottom line!

What criteria should you consider in choosing your telephone hold music? Your own personal preference may or may not be the best point of reference. Of course, you may want to be guided in part by the tastes of your clientele who are calling, however, that may or may not be the best way to pick your on-hold music either. The effects of various types of music, from classical to country to rock to rap, on humans, animals, and even plants have been studied for years and become subjects of popular discussion. While researching for this blog I came across an article (at "Suite101", a library of online articles on a range of topics) describing one such study in which one group of mice listened to classical music twenty-four hours a day while a second group listened to heavy metal. The researcher then timed the mice as they ran through mazes to see if the music affected their speed of learning. According to the article, the researcher unfortunately had to terminate the experiment prematurely as the mice exposed to the heavy metal music all killed one another. Could there be a lesson here to learn for you in picking your telephone hold music?

Statistically, it appears that music types such as classical, soft jazz, piano, and harp may be the optimum choice for engendering a positive mindset in your callers as they wait on hold. It seems that, as a general rule, the harder-edged the music the more negative the emotional and psychological impact on those exposed to it. (By the way, violent and negative lyrics can also have adverse effects on listeners, and this would tend to compound the problems with music such as hard rock, however, for telephone hold music it is generally better to use instrumental music anyway. More on this topic in a future post.)

Real estate agents are known to employ the positive psychological and emotional affect of the smell of fresh-baked bread or chocolate chip cookies wafting through the air to help create positive feelings about a house they are showing. Perhaps the right choice in your telephone hold music could have a similar impact on your callers' ears! It may be only a subtle effect, but if it favorably disposes them toward doing business with you, even if only slightly, it would be worth it.

Karaoke Music: The Empty Orchestra

By Aaron McLain

Karaoke's direct translation is "empty orchestra". It is a word defined as a portmanteau. Which basically means two words blended together to get one meaning. It is a Japanese word which is used to describe entertainment given by amateur singers.

Karaoke is a way for you become a kid again. A way to pretend your something your not. Or may you are. A way for you to sing along to your favorite musicians and see life through their eyes, even if it is for a moment. The setup is simple, but can become extravagant. A recording stripped of lyrics and a microphone will get you jamming. An even better setup includes music video and stage.

There are many different Karaoke songs. Basically Karaoke is a piece of music that is stripped of its lyrics. The lyrics are placed on a screen for a singer to sing. To keep the singer on track, there is usually a bouncing ball or symbol that goes along with the music. It let's them know when to start and stop each verse of the song.

Professional singers use karaoke. When it makes more sense financially, professional singers will sing along to their recorded songs. Don't mistake this for lip singing. The professional artist will actually sing their song. This is usually due to space limitations where a big band or orchestra would not fit on a small stage.

Karaoke is said to get its roots in Japan. As the claim goes, Japanese inventor Daisuke Inoue, created the first ever Karaoke style machine in 1971. It is said later in the 1980s is when karaoke started to become popular and spread throughout Asia. Later it spread to other parts of the world including the United States.

Karaoke is used to entertain all around the world. In Japan it is not uncommon to see a karaoke setup to entertain a dinner party. In other parts of the world you can find Karaoke in buildings completely dedicated to this type of entertainment. A person can rent out a room completely accessorized with the latest karaoke equipment and have a karaoke party.

Technology has advance in the world of Karaoke. The basic components have remained the same, but what you can do with karaoke has grown to a whole new level. Today karaoke singers can use karaoke technology to change the key the song is played in to adjust to the key they sing in. They can also adjust the tempo of the song. It's all about the comfort and range of the karaoke singer.

Essential Information About LED Television Technology

By Wayne Torres

Flat screen televisions have not taken too long to be the accepted as normal in many of our houses. The battle has gone on for several years between LCD and plasma televisions, with LCD coming out on top due to their longer life span and more affordable prices. However, the days of the LCD may well be numbered, with the latest generation being released through the new LED television.

Cynics out there, (of which I am a fully paid up member of the club), will snort at such an announcement and claim it is nothing more than a money making exercise. And whilst this holds some water; the technology in an LED television is a step in the right direction, so should not be dismissed too readily.

In essence, an LED television is just the same as the LCD that is probably sitting in your lounge right now. The difference is regards how the light emitting diodes, (LED), send the light to the screen. This is of course very complex, but in layman terms relies on backlit or sidelit, (edge), technology.

LED television technology, (light emitting diode), also allows for these lights to be controlled completely independently of each other. This allows for a greater spectrum of colors to be seen, whilst blacks are the blackest and purest yet seen by an artificial image production. And it is here that a television is really measured by the industry, (and increasingly the consumer following clever marketing in certain quarters).

Increased image quality then; but where is the catch? With regards the unit itself; remarkably none. These LEDs are able to produce such content, whilst using less energy. More impressive than this, is that the energy consumed is well used; resulting in less heat and light wastage. Great for the environment then and great for your finances. Also an LED television will last a lot longer, and not really succumb to wear and tear, which makes it well worthy of consideration.

They are also a great deal thinner than there predecessors. Whilst regular LCD TVs are very slim; at just mere inches, an LED television will be measured with a depth given in millimetres. Indeed, the leading manufacturers are producing units that are a mere 6mm in depth.

There is of course a catch when looking to buy yourself a shiny new LED television. And that is of course the initial price. Even the smaller sized screens command prices in the five, six and seven hundred dollar region. For this price, you could buy a forty six inch regular LCD TV in some areas. You will not be able to buy an LED television equivalent of this size for much less than two thousand five hundred dollars.

The price of course is easier to swallow, when you look at the bigger picture, (no pun intended), and consider the up to forty percent saving to be made on energy costs. Though this will not sit well with some of course.

However, as with any new concept, the price will be high initially, to pay for investment that the manufactures have had to spend on research and development. The price of an LED television may be out of the reach of many for the time being, but over the next few years this will come down to realistic levels. Just in time for the next advance probably!

Watching Weeds Television

By Dan Levine

There are many American comedy-dramas on television today but one that has become particularly popular is Weeds, a Showtime show made by Lionsgate television and created by Jenji Kohan.

Weeds' plot is basically about a housewife whose husband dies suddenly and thus must find a way to make money and continue her affluent suburban lifestyle. She becomes her neighborhood's marijuana dealer in order to keep her income up and continue her lifestyle.

Weeds, the tv series' name, means both the plant that the protagonist sells (marijuana) as well as "widow's weeds" which is the type of clothing one wears when one becomes a widow. Some also point out that Weeds is a good metaphor for the suburban community which grows quickly like a weed and which involves many houses and people who are indistinguishable like weeds.

Weeds' opening theme song is called "Little Boxes" which is played along with images of many small houses in a typical American suburban neighborhood. This is to further enforce the weed like mentality that was spoken about in the preceding paragraph.

Weeds has five seasons as of date and made its debut in 2005. It is Showtime's highest rated series during its first year playing and it is the channel's definite success. The season has attracted 962,000 viewers on average.

The Season 5 premier brought in 1.2 million viewers with an additional 500,000 viewers for the rerun later that night bringing the total viewership to 1.7 million. Not bad for the Showtime channel.

Much of the scenery and exterior shots on the show are shot in California in places like Santa Clarita Valley and Calabasas, California.

The main characters involve Nancy Botwin who is the protagonist of the show. She is your basic all-American soccer mom who lives the suburban lifestyle until she loses her husband and must enter the marijuana trade to make a living. Her customer base involves many people like her suburban friends, lawyer, accountant and more but eventually she is led to new challenges when she tries to expand her customer base.

Celia is Nancy's best enemy and friend. She is in a marriage that is particularly unhappy which may explain why she is so attracted to various vices like alcohol and trying to take others down in order to "teach them a lesson". However, her friend/enemy status is interesting in contrast to Nancy.

Weeds' Season 1 begins with Nancy's husband dying which is the catalyst for the basis of the show which involves Nancy entering the marijuana dealings to keep her affluent suburban life alive.

Her children both attend the public school system but in order for Nancy to continue to support their upper middle class lifestyle in the suburbs, she must sell marijuana to her neighbors and friends.

At one point, some of Nancy's customers begin to go to the medical marijuana shop because its quality is much higher than the quality of Nancy's marijuana. For this reason, Nancy is forced to make baked goods using her cooking skills to find a new way to sell her inferior quality weed. She does a good job of this and covers up her sales by actually making her own bakery and putting Costco's products on her shelves as her own.

Weeds is an excellent television show and has had a long standing viewership. If this sort of topic and protagonist sounds interesting to you, you should definitely check out the show on Showtime. You may also find clips and other previews if you search on the internet for the television show, Weeds.

Exploring The Law Of Attraction

By Jill M Taylor

Some people seem to have luck in everything they undertake, while others are haunted by bad luck and fail all the time. After a long series of unfortunate events, both personally and professionally, Rhonda Byrne, author of the famous book 'The Secret', claims to have discovered what distinguishes the lucky ones from those who are less fortunate. It's all about the way in which people apply the law of attraction.

Initially, agree with me that the law of gravity exists, regardless of your beliefs. This is also available for the Universal Laws. Not only that these laws exist, but they concern you directly. Of all the laws, the law of attraction is the most powerful one. It states that your thoughts and beliefs influence your life. Here's how it works. When you focus your mind on what you want, the object of your desire is attracted to you.

Let's find out more about how does the law of attraction work.

Every thought you have is a form of energy that emits a vibration, a signal. This signal attracts the same rate of vibration on the same frequency. Your thoughts are messages to the Universe, becoming a form of energy. This is what we call the law of attraction, one of the most powerful laws of the universe and the basis of creative visualization. In the same way a magnet attracts metal, your mind attracts energy. Unfortunately most people care more about what they don't have or about what they want to change in their lives, wondering why nothing goes well. The law of attraction ignores the nature of your thoughts. So if your thoughts remain stuck on the fact that you have can't have a certain thing, your energy will focus on failure and not on success.

Everything that happens to you is determined by your thoughts, beliefs and intentions. The question is: 'Do you know what you want?' Make a list of what you want. There is nothing too good or too big. Do you want a bigger house, a beautiful pool, a life partner or more money? Have fun with this list and imagine that everything you written there is already happening.

Love yourself! Love and positive thoughts attract positive energies. The easiest and most effective way to accomplish your desires is to imagine that you have already obtained the object of your desire, that it is part of your everyday life. When you want something, you should focus your thoughts and attention on it; by thinking intensely, you are emitting vibrations that attract positive things to your life.

Everything around you has a different effect on your life: books, magazines, music, people and information that feed your mind and spirit. Start doing things that make you feel relaxed. All these facts influence your way of thinking and feelings, being in fact, your messages to the universe.

You attract exactly what you're thinking about and people who think and feel like you. Eventually, your whole existence is determined by your thoughts and feelings.

A journal is a good tool to make you realize how many beautiful things are in your life. Amazing sunsets, birds singing, wild flowers, the laugher of a child, a walk in nature, the smile of a another person- these are all examples that melt your heart. Be grateful and enjoy everything you. Many people have lost the loved ones or don't have the possibility to enjoy the world around them. Try to see the best part and stop thinking that something bad can happen to you.

Watch Love Happens Online

By Ewin Johnson

If you love romantic comedies, then you'll enjoy the new movie Love Happens, starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. This tender romantic story is a perfect "date movie," and there is basically nothing in it to offend.

A great evening in would be if you watch Love Happens online with a big bowl of popcorn or take-away pizza. It's also a good flick for a night in with friends. In Love Happens, Aaron Eckhart plays a motivational speaker with a best selling self-help book who teaches a seminar at the hotel in which Aniston's character owns a florist's shop.

She is rather a mess of insecurities and has sworn off men altogether, until she meets Eckhart's seemingly wise self-help guru and is intrigued by him. Alas, he has his own problems.

Watch Love Happens online and you'll discover that he is an even bigger bundle of insecurities than she is. He may look confident, but this self help sensei has his own problems and it takes the help of an ordinary woman (if one can call someone as pretty as Aniston "ordinary") for him to come to terms with them.

When we, his seminar audience, and Aniston's character see him walk across hot coals with bare feet, we believe that he is possessed of extreme confidence. But this handsome, "perfect" man who helps thousands of people is human after all.

The movie was filmed in Vancouver and Seattle, the setting for the story, so the film has an edgy bohemian chic perfect for dressing Aniston up in a number of outfits that may be too casual for New York, but are perfect in the Pacific northwest. You could even watch Love Happens online with the sound off so as to concentrate on all the great ideas for perfecting the kind of bohemian style that Aniston pulls off so well here.

There's no problem with watching the handsome Eckhart - him with the lantern jaw and dimpled chin - as he wears a series of sartorially perfect creations, either. So if it is a slow Friday or Saturday night and it's raining and cold and you simply want to stay in and entertain your brain without having to make too much of a mental investment, you should watch Love Happens online and believe in fairy tales for a couple of stress-free hours.

Though their repertoire might be much wider, you will find that a covers band will typically play music that comes from a certain era or even from a certain band; their strength is going to be in performing music written by others and in some cases, they will perform music specifically in that artist's style. If you are interested in getting a good covers band for your party or celebration, there are a couple things you are going to have to keep in mind.

Something that you need to know is that there is the internet that is a great resource to help you, if you wanted to seek out a good covers band that plays the songs that you desire. For example, upon your search in the internet, you may even find out without even you knowing before that in your city or just a few miles away from you, lives a covers band that perfectly suits your standards.

Directories over the worldwide web are also available for you to use. Live covers band usually have their own traveling expenses, and yet the only thing that you ought to know is where to find them!

Isnt technology very amazing? The internet really made our lives much easier. Before considering inviting and asking a particular live covers band, you may even get the chance to visit and listen to the very songs that they cover through Myspace or other social networking sites. For sure, upon your directory search, it would also be indicated their website or, something like 'follow us in myspace and twitter!' In some cases, there are bands where the quality of the sound that has been uploaded is way better than others, but aside from that you may want to take some time to think about and analyze their real potential.

Do not be in such a hurry. It is important that you dedicate your time to reflect whether which of the covers band you would listen to and probably hire for your event. More often, they do not even have enough demo clips uploaded in their website or webpage, and an option that you may consider is sending an email asking for a demo cd.

Also come to make sure that you know the songs that these live cover bands would play. It is very important before hiring them that you need to inform them about your party rules and regulations.

Yet, the most important part here is, how much are you going to spend on hiring a live covers band? Moreover, are they acceptable? Sometimes, finding out first how much some of the bands of your choice charge may help, and try to compare it with others as well.

You will most likely not regret hiring a covers band, as it will pump up your party or event and make it even livelier. However, make sure that you have thought about it carefully. There are no second chances for choosing a perfect band since your event is unique from the others that you are still planning to have.

There's some players who will advocate that you observe a pattern in some way and thus forecast how likely a particular combination is to appear, but in reality your chances of selecting winning lottery numbers are based on the number of tickets sold.

Typically, you must pick out 6 numbers, each between 1 and 49. When the draw has taken, balls are placed inside a specially designed machine, either an air-mix machine or a gravity machine and then the whole device is designed to select 1 ball at a time, each exhibiting a unique number. As there is a huge possibility for fraud these days, the machines themselves are very carefully supervised to check lottery numbers, while the balls are very often held in vaults in between drawings and law enforcement officers often attend the events.

With this type of drawing the odds of picking up a jackpot, i.e. correctly guessing all the 6 numbers is 15,890,700 to 1. Choosing Your MP3 Player

By Helena Enteerha

If you're thinking about getting an MP3 player then you need to brush up on MP3 player basics. There are many makes and models to choose from but some of them are not very good quality. Some players double as video players, or have advanced audio functions built in as a secondary feature. Finding a player that's just limited to playing music is something of a rarity these days.

A prime example is the Apple iPod. In the good old days it was simply used to play music. In recent memory they have come out with so many advanced features, most of them aren't found in other units. The MP3 player is geared for easy navigation. Even though the extra benefits are nice to some, others just want a little piece of technology that plays music. Plus, iPods usually cost a bit more as well.

Although the Apple iPod is the main player that many people think of, there are many other brands. There are also a variety of cheaper off brands that have copied its aesthetic look but for legal reasons cannot copy its features. These brands often do not handle many other audio formats other than MP3's. Name brands however are designed to handle audio formats across the entire spectrum and many people flock to them for this reason alone.

Another thing to think about is the battery life. Most of the cheaper models will use triple As, which fade out quickly. In today's world most of the models will use rechargeable lithium ion batteries. What it will come down to is whether or not you want to purchase batteries every month or just recharge the unit.

Then of course it's important to look at the durability. Thanks to our societies "jump on the bandwagon" ways, it's the most overlooked part of the process. You need to know whether or not the product you purchase is going to last years, or a couple months. All it takes is one misstep for one of them to be damaged or simply breakdown.

If you go with one of the larger electronics brands like Apple or Sony, durability probably won't be a concern (although there are some notoriously breakable units out there; a glance at a unit's reviews should be enough to clue you in on whether it's solid or not). The lower echelon of companies will try to cut corners wherever they can to offer a somewhat similar product for a cheaper price, so don't be surprised when a player like that breaks down.

You'll want to take the button layout of the player into consideration. Try to avoid models from smaller companies that just have a mere two buttons - these are often bottom of the barrel products that are just asking for problems. The iPod Shuffle is a bit of an exception, as it's a quality player with a very simple interface, and is quite cheap compared to other iPods.

So in closing before buying any kind of player remember to go over the MP3 player basics. Check for function, audio formats supported, battery life, durability, and general quality. If you don't want to do bother because it's time consuming you can just buy an Apple iPod. These are one of the most sought after players on the market for a reason. If money is a concern then simply buy an older generation iPod - plenty of new units are almost always available for the previous generation, and you can find savings of 10% and upwards, without sacrificing the most important features.
