Vinyl Words on Floor Tiles

By Bart Icles

Vinyl words and lettering are fast becoming one of the most popular ways to decorate the walls of your home or room. There are already several online stores that offer vinyl words as parts of their products and services. Most of these online stores can accept customized projects and there are also some who prefer letting you choose from an archive or catalog of designs and fonts. If you cannot find a vinyl lettering store online or one that is near your area, then you might want to do a little experiment. It is always possible to create vinyl words on floor tiles on your own and you can create them right in your own home.

The first thing you need to do is to purchase floor tiles from any hardware or home improvement store online or near your area. Depending on the look you want to achieve, you can select 3x3 ?inch tiles or you can also go for the larger, classier looking tiles. It is also best to select a marble tile because it is smooth and it has a range of color variations. You will also need to purchase a scraper or a plastic putty knife. Other materials that you need to prepare are die cutting machine, adhesive vinyl, hanger or easel, and clear transfer paper (preferably with grid).

Choose the kind of font cartridge that you would want to use and insert it properly into your die cutting machine. Start entering the words, phrases or sentences you plan to place on your floor tiles then load some adhesive vinyl into the die cutting machine. Allow the machine to cut out the words.

After the words have been cut out, you can now transfer them onto the marble tiles. To help you align the letters and words, you can use a clear transfer paper. The clear transfer paper will serve as a guide so you can better place the letters onto the tiles. Once done, you can smoothen out the vinyl sticker and bubbles with the help of a scraper or a plastic putty knife.

You can now display your vinyl words art. You can use a small easel ? the one used for decorative plates ? and place your art on your shelf, mantel or table. You can also grab a nail hanger and use a super glue to stick it to the back of your tile. You can then hang it on your walls. It really all depends on how you plan to use the floor tile as a home decoration.
