Valencia 'offers bargain holiday home properties'

Now may be the perfect time to make an international money transfer and snap up a home in Spain as one expert claims there are plenty of bargains to be taken advantage of in the country.
Marc Da-Silva, freelance property journalist and founder of PropertyJournalist.com, explained how there are "lots" of cheap abodes currently available around Valencia.
"Given the Spanish housing downturn, a lot of the vendors have become desperate in their need to sell, so there is plenty of room for negotiation," he commented.
A recent Rightmove Overseas search report revealed many individuals have picked up on the abundance of availability for investment in the region, as Valencia saw the biggest monthly increase in searches in Spain for September.
The area was the top climber with a 113.94 per cent rise, which saw its chart position move up 83 places.
Second and third place were taken by the Dordogne and Aquitaine regions of France.
According to Mr Da-Silva, interest in Valencia is likely to have increased as it is a good destination for Brits, due to the frequency of return flights from the UK and the "nice part of the world" where it is located.
"It just makes sense ultimately, in terms of Brits being able to gain easy access through flights to somewhere that is two or two and a half hours away from the UK," he remarked.
However, it was noted by Mr Da-Silva that while Valencia is "not really an investment" region, it is a great place for a holiday home and the current economic climate makes purchasing property more attractive than ever.
Commenting on the Rightmove survey, editor at Overseas Guides Company Richard Way claimed the high concentration of repossessed property on the Costa Blanca is likely to have boosted interest in Spanish homes.
