Playing God: This film is a preposterous tale of drug addicted ex-surgeon Duchovny employed by gangster Hutton to be the personal crisis medical expert for his shot-up and sliced cronies. The improvised medical therapy is so entirely comical that it upstages the ridiculousness of the tale line. Why this film was ever made is genuinely a case for The X Files. Cast includes David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton, Angelina Jolie, Michael Massee, Peter Stormare, Gary Dourdan, John Hawkes, and Andrew Tieman. (93 minutes, 1997)

Signs of Life: A generatios old boat making business in Maine closes its doors, and the workers, youthful and old, who've exhausted their lives there, try to decide out what to do next. Cast includes Arthur Kennedy, Kevin J. O'Connor, Vincent Phillip D'Onofrio, Michael Lewis, Fellow Bridges, Kate Reid, Kathy Bates, Mary-Louise Parker, and Georgia Engei. (91 minutes, 1989)

Shadowlands: Poignant, prudent, peacefully gratifying drama in regards to British author C. S. Lewis (Ackland), a verified bachelor, and how he is changed while he falls in love with American divorcee Bloom. Quality work is done by the megastars utilizing an outstanding award caliber script by William Nicholson. Cast includes Joss Ackland, Claire Bloom, David Waller, and Rupert Baderman. (90 minutes, 1985)

Food of the Gods: This is a terrible adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel. An odd event has caused mammoth expansion in the size of wasps, chickens and rats. Cast includes Marjoe Gortner, Pamela Franklin, Ida Lupino, Jon Cypher, and Ralph Meeker. (88 minutes, 1976)

Stage Door: Theatrical boarding home is setting for remarkable film, from an Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman play. Dynamite cast contains Hepburn as opulent gal trying to be successful on her own, Menjou as proposing creator, Leeds as allergic actress, and a few future stars such as Lucille Ball, Ann Miller, and Eve Arden. Cast includes Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Adolphe Menjou, Andrea Leeds, Gai Patrick, Constance Collier, Lucille Ball, Eve Arden, Ann Miller, Ralph Forbes, Franklin Pangborn, and Jack Carson. Slaughter in San Francisco: Prior cop Wong desires retribution on killer of his companion. Norris, in an aiding role, is the poor guy. Cast includes Don Wong, Ditch Norris, Sylvia Channing, Robert Jones, and Dan Ivan. (87 minutes, 1981)

The General Died at Dawn: Fine, altruospheric drama of Oriental enthrall, with mercenary Cooper falling in love with foreign agent Carroll when fighting sinister warlord Tamiroff. Cast includes Gary Cooper, Madeleine Carroll, Akim Tamiroff, Dudley Digges, Porter Chamber, and William Frawley. (97 minutes, 1936)

Light Years: Conceited energized sci-fi fantasy, in regards to a prince who time-voyages into the future; he's enclosed by characters identified Ambisextra, Transformation, Chief of the Distorted, and The Collective Voice (so you know this wasn't made with youthful kids in mind). Cast includes Voices of Glenn Close, Christopher Plummer, Jennifer Grey, John Shea, David Johansen, Terrence Mann, and Penn and Teller. (71 minutes, 1988)

The Proposal: Bulky soap opera set in the 1930s gives Branagh a thankless role as a minister with more ties than one might ever envision to prosperous Boston bigwig. Cast includes Kenneth Branagh, William Hurt, Madeleine Stowe, Blythe Danner, Rohert Loggia, Neil Patrick Harris, and Josef Sommer. (110 minutes, 1998)
