North Canton Couple Tied Up and Robbed Inside Home Saturday

By Morgan Day
North Canton police are investigating a home invasion from early Saturday morning that sent one person to the hospital.
Here's the account from a police media release: Police responded to a call of a home invasion in the 1100 block of Sunford Avenue SE at 3:54 a.m. Saturday. The victims told police they were sleeping and two men woke them up and pointed handguns in their faces. The men demanded their money and cellphones, then they tied the victims' hands and feet with duct tape. The female victim told police she was then sexually assaulted.
The men left the home and the male victim chased after them but couldn't make out what type of car they drove away from the home.
The North Canton Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene and took the female victim to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. She was released shortly after.
The men got into their home by breaking out a basement window, police said.
Massillon Police Department’s K9 Unit arrived to search the surrounding area.
The victims told police the only belongings missing were their cellphones and an undetermined amount of cash.
Anyone with information about the home invasion should call the North Canton Police Department at 330-499-5911.
The victims described the suspects as one black man about 6'1" and possibly known as Steve, while the other was a light-skinned black man about 5'7". Both suspects were wearing dark clothes with ski masks and gloves.
