Make Money While You’re In College

Anyone who’s been to college, or those that are currently in college, know that making extra money while taking a full course load can be difficult, if not impossible. Trying to find a flexible part-time job can be a nightmare. On the flip side, trying to work your class schedule around a work schedule can be equally as difficult. For those that need a bit of pocket money but don’t have much free time, below are some opportunities that allow you to work from the comfort of your desk whenever you have time to spare.
Become a Freelance Writer
There are several content writing sites that pay you to do what you love: write! Sites like Textbroker.com and NeedAnArticle.com are great places to start. Freelancewritinggigs.com posts new writing projects Monday through Friday and is a great resource if you are interested in freelancing.
Tutor Online
If you’re an excellent student, start your own tutoring business by posting flyers around campus or creating a website. There are also online tutoring services that are frequently looking for tutors to join their ranks. This is a job you should especially consider if your major is education. Tutoring looks great on a resume! Check out sites like e-Tutor.com and Tutor.com for job postings.
Sell on eBay
You don’t have to sell your own items! Visit tag sales, thrift shops and auctions during the weekend and see what you can find. It isn’t necessary that you discover a handwritten letter from Abraham Lincoln or some other off the wall treasure. Simply use good sense and a bit of trial and error. Millions of people use eBay and someone is always looking for something. From old farm tools to books and collectibles, eBay can bring in a steady flow of cash if you play your cards right.
Whether you cat-sit or walk dogs is up to you, but there are always pet owners looking for responsible people to help with their furry friends. Put up flyers at local veterinary offices, pet stores and around campus. Once you get a few regular clients, think about making your own website and business cards. Marketing yourself well will net you more clients and, in turn, more money. This can be a great job if you’ve left your pet at home and need a dog ‘fix’.
Blogging
If you are passionate about a particular topic, why not start a blog? Your blog won’t necessarily make you money but the advertisements you place on your blog will. Don’t expect blogging to bring quick money, it can take months for a blog to start generating real revenue.
With a bit of ingenuity, college students can make money even with a full class schedule. Follow one or more of these tips and ask fellow students what they’re doing for cash. Chances are you’ll end up with a bit of extra money in your pocket by the end of the month!
