Katherine Jenkins’ house is hired for The Apprentice

SINGER Katherine Jenkins is showing Alan Sugar’s apprentices how to make money – by renting her house to the BBC for a reported £5,000 a week.
Contestants on The Apprentice, including po-faced Susan, controlling Edna and chronically indecisive Leon, moved into the £4.7m plush London mansion owned by classical singer Katherine and her fiance, Gethin Jones.
And shrewd Neath girl Katherine, who sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah to a task-winning team in last year’s series, has been paid for 10 weeks of rental at her Georgian-style home in leafy Richmond, with the Beeb picking up the £50,000 tab – plus the redecorating bill.
The recently-renovated southwest London property, which Katherine bought last July with her TV presenter fiance Gethin, 32, has eight bedrooms, four reception rooms and a new kitchen.
Mezzo soprano Katherine stayed at her north London flat during breaks from touring when The Apprentice was being filmed.
Neighbours in the trendy area – where properties command up to £25,000 a month in rent – include newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald and television presenter Andrew Marr.
Neath-born Katherine, right, who grew up in a modest house, was rated as being worth £13m in the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
In past series of The Apprentice, contestants have stayed in properties in Bloomsbury, Ladbroke Grove, Chiswick, Notting Hill and Battersea.
