The £47k Ghost as as nursing home tycoons are accused of claiming public cash for dead residents

Nursing home tycoons have been accused of claiming taxpayers' cash for a dead resident.
Bentley driving Barry Cushley, 31, and brother Thomas, 25 allegedly claimed £47,000 in fees for a man who had been deceased for two years.
Stirling Council say the brothers who ran Ellenvale Care Home in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire continued to take the cash and didn't tell them the resident had died.
The alleged fraud known as "ghosting" only came to light after council bosses contacted the Care Commission to ask where the old man had been moved to when the home shut last year.
The resident had been placed in Ellenvale by Stirling Council in 2003 and died in 2007.
Now the Cushleys, from Coatbridge, have been reported to the procurator fiscal after a fraud probe by Strathclyde Police.
A source said: "The council wrote to the Cushleys with a copy of the man's death certificate and asked them to pay the cash back.
"The Cushleys wrote back asking the council to prove that Probed: and his they had paid the cash. Details of the bank transfers were then forwarded but the Cushleys ignored requests to hand back the money.
"The council had no option but to contact the police."
Exfootballer Barry, who failed to make the grade at Airdrie, was a director of Chapelgate Health Care but resigned in January 2009. Thomas is still a director.
The firm made a £1.2million profit in 2009 and £983,000 last year. Ellenvale Care Home was at the centre of a Care Commission probe last year.
Investigators said that Chapelgate were not fit to provide a care service after they failed to pay electricity and refuse collection bills.
The firm also failed to renovate rooms to National Care Standards.
Residents were moved out of the Ellenvale home last April and the building was damaged in a suspicious fire last October. Three men were seen fleeing the scene shortly after the fire started.
New India Assurance are considering a £3 million insurance claim for the damage. Police inquiries into the fire are continuing.
Chapelgate run another home, Dunbeth Lodge in Coatbridge.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "A 31 year old male and a 25 year old male have been reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged financial irregularities."
Stirling Council said: "The matter was referred to police who submitted a report to the procurator fiscal."
The Cushleys' lawyer Rod McKenzie said: "We only look after business interests for the Cushleys. I'm unaware of criminal charges." Barry Cushley didn't return our calls. Thomas Cushley was unavailable for comment.
