Freightliner Ltd donate money to Crewe care home for roof repairs

A GENEROUS donation of £1,000 has been presented to the Emmie Dixon Home in Crewe on behalf of haulage company Freightliner.
General Manger of Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, John James White, nominated the charity after the home lost some of its vital funding.
In the past year Mr White has raised about £10,000 for the charity through Crewe-based events and this latest donation is set to make a huge difference at the care home.
Mr White said: “Due to the property’s age, minor repairs are a continual drain on resources. At a cost of £12,000 the roof is just one of the repairs urgently needed.
“In the past 12 months many of my Freightliner colleagues from Basford Sidings in Crewe, have contributed their own time to help organise events at the sidings and Heritage Centre.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped to raise over £10,000 for the home.
“We’ll continue with the fundraising to help keep all the residents as comfortable as possible, in what can only be described as a warm and friendly environment.”
Emmie Dixon Home manager Deborah Owen said: “This has been a fantastic money raiser for the home and John has worked extremely hard in arranging fundraising events.
“It’s great to have support from Freightliner. The donation will be put to great use in our roof repair fund.”
